Site identified for new Centre for Autism
Autism Jersey have announced plans for a dedicated Autism Centre, specially built to meet the needs of people on the autism spectrum. This facility will provide a permanent home and act as a hub from which we will provide community-based services.
We are working in partnership with the States of Jersey Property Holdings department on the Autism Centre project. A site has been identified next to the Philip Mourant Centre in Trinity, detailed plans are being prepared and we expect to apply for planning permission shortly. The development is ambitious – Autism Jersey will need to raise £1 million to finance its share of the investment.
Nick Winsor, chairman of Autism Jersey, said: ‘This is an ambitious and exciting project. When it is finished, the Jersey Centre for Autism will be the only facility of its kind anywhere in the region. We need your help so that local people on the autism spectrum can get the support that they need in the Island.’
Autism Jersey’s members, staff and supporters were told more about the plans at the charity’s AGM on Wednesday 14 September 2016 at the Town Hall.
