Careers Information

Autism Jersey assists people with everyday life skills that most of us take for granted. Our main objective is to provide support for individuals and to assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of services for clients with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

Training and Development

The quality of our staff is key to establishing, providing and evidencing good quality support. People enter the health and social care industry because they want to make a difference to people’s lives. They want to help others and to do this effectively, they must be trained. We are therefore committed to investing in and empowering our staff to reach their full potential.

Professional Qualifications

Service providers are required to have at least 50% of their staff trained to a professional level. Autism Jersey offers all support staff the opportunity to undertake the RQF level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care upon successful completion of their probation period.

Our service managers are also required to complete the RQF level 5 in Leadership in Health & Social Care.

All RQF learners are assessed in-house by our own qualified vocational assessor.

Mandatory Training

All Autism Jersey support staff are required to always have the following mandatory training in date:

Mandatory training is important because it enables support workers to achieve the standards set by regulatory authorities and meet organisational obligations. The training is renewed every three years and ensures that staff have the skills and knowledge they need to carry out their roles safely and effectively.

MAYBO Positive Approaches to Behaviour & Disengagement Techniques

All Maybo training places emphasis on positive and proactive person-centred strategies, conflict management and challenging behaviour awareness. This training is delivered in-house by Lionel Gomes and Danielle Wharton over a 2-day period with Positive Approaches to Behaviour being valid for 2 years and Disengagement Techniques for 12 months. Training is continual with renewal dates constantly coming up and training sessions being facilitated every 3 months or so.

Autism Awareness - SPELL 1 & 2

This training is delivered by Assumpta Finn and Heather McClelland of All About Autism.
